SERINO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to making May 15th Police Memorial Day, a state holiday, and requiring the state division of criminal justice services to annually organize a fitting ceremony at the Police Memorial Wall and requiring the governor to appear in person at such ceremony The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section 168-A of the executive law, as 2 amended by chapter 481 of the laws of 2012, is amended to read as 3 follows: 4 3. Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law, the division of 23 criminal justice services shall organize an annual fitting ceremony at 24 the Police Memorial Wall at the Empire State Plaza in Albany on the 25 Monday falling closest to May 1st. The governor shall attend the ceremo- 26 ny in person and shall read aloud the names of the police officers who 27 have died during the previous year from injuries incurred in the line of 28 duty. 29 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
