        AN ACT to amend the county law, the municipal  home  rule  law  and  the
          election  law,  in  relation  to  websites maintained by a county or a
          board of elections
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The  county  law is amended by adding a new section 55 to
     2  read as follows:
     3    § 55. County websites. Any county which maintains a website shall  use
     4  a ".gov" domain name for such website.
     5    §  2.  The  municipal home rule law is amended by adding a new section
     6  35-a to read as follows:
     7    § 35-a. County websites. Any county operating under a  county  charter
     8  as  defined in section thirty-two of this part which maintains a website
     9  shall use a ".gov" domain name for such website.
    10    § 3. The election law is amended by adding a new section 3-228 to read
    11  as follows:
    12    § 3-228. Board of elections websites. Any  board  of  elections  which
    13  maintains a website shall use a ".gov" domain name for such website.
    14    §  4. This act shall take effect one year after it shall have become a
    15  law.
