        Introduced  by  Sen.  MAYER  -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government
 
        AN ACT to amend the town law, in relation to the merger of the Rye  town
          and Port Chester village courts
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 20 of the town law is  amended  by
     2  adding a new paragraph (q) to read as follows:
     3    (q)  In  the  event  the village court of the village of Port Chester,
     4  county of Westchester, is abolished effective May fifteenth,  two  thou-
     5  sand  twenty-one, the town court of the town of Rye, county of Westches-
     6  ter, shall thereupon have four town justices. The third and fourth  town
     7  justice established by this paragraph shall be filled in accordance with
     8  subdivision five of section sixty-four of this chapter.
     9    §  2.  Upon  the abolition of the village court of the village of Port
    10  Chester in accordance with this act, all actions and proceedings pending
    11  in such court shall be transferred to the town court of the town of Rye.
    12    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately; provided,  however,  that
    13  if  this  act  shall  have become a law after May 15, 2021 it shall take
    14  effect immediately and shall be deemed to have been in  full  force  and
    15  effect on and after May 15, 2021.
