 2                 ACTING PRESIDENT MAYER:   The Senate 

 3    will come to order.  

 4                 I ask everyone present to please 

 5    rise and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

 6                 (Whereupon, the assemblage recited 

 7    the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.) 

 8                 ACTING PRESIDENT MAYER:   In the 

 9    absence of clergy, let us bow our heads in a 

10    moment of silent reflection or prayer.

11                 (Whereupon, the assemblage respected 

12    a moment of silence.)

13                 ACTING PRESIDENT MAYER:   Reading of 

14    the Journal.

15                 THE SECRETARY:   In Senate, Tuesday, 

16    January 2, 2024, the Senate met pursuant to 

17    adjournment.  The Journal of Saturday, 

18    December 30, 2023, was read and approved.  On 

19    motion, the Senate adjourned.

20                 ACTING PRESIDENT MAYER:   Without 

21    objection, the Journal stands approved as read.

22                 Presentation of petitions.

23                 Messages from the Assembly.

24                 Messages from the Governor.

25                 Reports of standing committees.

 6                 SENATOR GIANARIS:   Happy New Year, 

 7    Madam President, and to all my colleagues.  

 8                 I believe there is a resolution at 

 9    the desk.  I ask that it be read in its entirety 

10    and move for its immediate adoption.

11                 ACTING PRESIDENT MAYER:   The 

12    Secretary will read.

13                 THE SECRETARY:   Senate Resolution 

14    1457, Concurrent Resolution of the Senate and 

15    Assembly relative to the adjournment sine die of 

16    the 2023 Session of the Legislature.

17                 "RESOLVED, That the two thousand 

18    twenty-three Session of the Legislature adjourn 

19    sine die on Wednesday, January third, two 

20    thousand twenty-four, simultaneously with the 

21    commencement of the two thousand twenty-four 

22    Legislative Session."

23                 Excuse me.

24                 "RESOLVED, That the two thousand 

25    twenty-three Session of the Legislature adjourn

 1    sine die on Wednesday, January third, two 

 2    thousand twenty-four, simultaneously with the 

 3    commencement of the two thousand twenty-four 

 4    Legislative Session."

 5                 ACTING PRESIDENT MAYER:   The 

 6    question is on the resolution.  All those in 

 7    favor please signify by saying aye.

 8                 (Response of "Aye.")

 9                 ACTING PRESIDENT MAYER:   Opposed?  

10                 (No response.)

11                 ACTING PRESIDENT MAYER:   The 

12    resolution is adopted.  

13                 The 2023 legislative session is 

14    adjourned sine die.

15                 (Whereupon, at 12:45 p.m., the 

16    Senate adjourned.)
