What's happening
This bill exempts emergency ambulance service vehicles from New York's prohibition on tinted automobile windows.
Why it matters
Allows emergency ambulances to use tinted windows, which can enhance privacy for patients during transport and shield sensitive medical activities from public view.
May improve safety and comfort for ambulance crews by reducing glare and heat buildup inside the vehicle, especially important during long shifts or in adverse weather.
Could address operational needs for EMS agencies that use multi-purpose vehicles, aligning ambulance standards with other emergency vehicles that already have similar exemptions.
