Why it matters

Mandates consistent training standards across all public schools, BOCES, vocational, extension, and charter schools, promoting statewide uniformity in emergency preparedness.
Empowers the commissioner of education to set specific rules for training and compliance, which could influence the quality and frequency of emergency response training for school staff.
May require schools to allocate time and resources for staff training, potentially impacting budgets, staffing logistics, and daily operations.
