What's happening

This bill requires a study and report on wages for aides to the developmentally disabled and sets a new base wage by 2026.

Why it matters

  1. Mandates a detailed statewide analysis. of current wages, qualifications, and geographic disparities among aides to the developmentally disabled, potentially highlighting pay inequities and regional gaps that could inform future workforce policy.

  2. Links future wage decisions to real data. , making it more likely that any new base wage will reflect the actual needs and qualifications of workers, rather than being set arbitrarily or politically.

  3. Connects state funding and Medicaid reimbursements to wage increases. , which could impact provider budgets, state spending, and the financial stability of organizations serving people with developmental disabilities.

  4. Sets a clear timeline for action. (report by end of 2025, wage decision by March 2026), creating a legislative commitment to address longstanding concerns about low wages in this critical sector.
