What's happening

This bill dedicates the bridge on State Route 6 over State Route 32 in Woodbury to Detective Brian C. Mulkeen.

Why it matters

  1. This bill serves as a formal public recognition of Detective Brian C. Mulkeen's service and sacrifice, which may offer meaningful support to his family, colleagues, and community by honoring his memory in a visible, lasting way.

  2. The legislation ensures that installation and maintenance of signage is handled by the Department of Transportation, providing a clear mandate for public acknowledgment without requiring renaming of official transportation records or documents.

  3. By specifying that the dedication is ceremonial and does not officially change the bridge’s name, the bill avoids administrative complications, ensures continuity for emergency services and mapping systems, and minimizes potential disruption for local businesses and travelers.
