What's happening
This resolution directs the Assembly Clerk to arrange seating for press representatives with the Speaker's approval.
Why it matters
Press access and transparency. By formally directing the Clerk to arrange designated seating for press representatives, the resolution reinforces the Assembly’s commitment to public transparency and media access to legislative proceedings.
Speaker’s oversight. The requirement for the Speaker’s approval introduces a layer of oversight, potentially granting the Speaker more control over which press representatives are accommodated and where they are seated.
Standardization of press logistics. This measure could lead to more consistent and regulated procedures for press seating, potentially improving organization but also raising questions about criteria and potential limitations on press access.
