What's happening

This resolution honors Farahnaz Rahimzada for 20 years of dedicated service to the Ahavat Shalom Synagogue in Great Neck, New York.

Why it matters

  1. Highlights the impact of immigrant contributions. By honoring Farahnaz Rahimzada, who emigrated from Iran to Israel and then to the U.S., the resolution recognizes the valuable role immigrants play in strengthening community life and social fabric in New York.

  2. Underscores the importance of grassroots community service. Rahimzada’s founding and ongoing leadership of the Senior Program at Ahavat Shalom Synagogue show how individual initiative can address unmet needs, reduce social isolation among seniors, and create sustained, positive change.

  3. Elevates intergenerational and charitable engagement. The resolution draws attention to Rahimzada’s efforts in involving seniors in knitting winter clothing for orphans and delivering essentials to low-income families, illustrating how local programs can foster a sense of purpose, generosity, and connection across different groups.

  4. Sets a model for civic recognition. By formally honoring Rahimzada, the resolution not only celebrates her specific achievements but also encourages others to emulate dedicated community service and leadership, reinforcing shared values of kindness and commitment in the broader society.
