BILL NUMBER:A9228
Title of bill
An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to providing distinctive license plates for combat medics
Purpose or general idea of bill
Provides for the issuance of Combat Medic license plates for vehicles.
Summary of specific provisions
Section 1 amends §404-x of the Vehicle and Traffic law to include distinctive license plates for Combat Medics who was awarded the Combat Medical Badge. Section one specifies the requirements for application and the fees to purchase such license plates.
Section 2 contains the effective date.
Justification
New York currently offers a custom license plate recog- nizing Combat Infantrymen. However there is not a license plate to recognize Combat Medics. Combat Medics serve wherever Combat Infantrymen do and the number of points needed for promotion is equal for the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Combat Medic Badge.
