Title of bill

An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to providing distinctive license plates for combat medics

Purpose

Provides for the issuance of Combat Medic license plates for vehicles.

Summary of provisions

Section 1 amends §404-x of the Vehicle and Traffic law to include distinctive license plates for Combat Medics who were awarded the Combat Medical Badge. Section one states the requirements for application and the fees to purchase such license plates.

Section 2 contains the effective date.

Existing law

No such license plate currently exists.

Justification

New York currently offers a custom license plate recognizing Combat Infantrymen. However, there is no license plate to recognize Combat Medics. Combat Medics serve wherever Combat Infantrymen do and the number of points needed for promotion are equal for the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Combat Medic Badge.
