P R O C E E D I N G SACTING PRESIDENT CROCI:The Senate will come to order.
I ask everyone present to please rise and repeat with me the Pledge of Allegiance.
(Whereupon, the assemblage recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.)
ACTING PRESIDENT CROCI:Today we have the Reverend Peter G. Young, from Mother Teresa Community, Albany, to deliver our invocation.
REVEREND YOUNG:Thank you, Senator.
Let us pray.
By being a Senator, you have accepted and been accepted into the leadership position so that you can more fully serve the people of New York State. In the spirit of community, our prayer today will be to be better able to achieve the goal of dedicated representation in the power that is entrusted to all of our legislators and to the leadership of this community in the Senate. May you attain your satisfaction in your services for all of your constituents.
And may we especially prepare today to remember a prayer for Martin Luther King and the good work of his dedication. Having enjoyed being with him on many an occasion, enjoying the opportunity of listening to his words of wisdom in the March on Washington in the year '63, I identify myself as an old-timer.
Amen.
