This bill extends the powers of NYSARC, Inc. under public authorities law until December 31, 2023.
Why it matters
Extending NYSARC, Inc.'s powers under public authorities law means the organization can continue to access public financing tools and other benefits. which is especially important for supporting services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in New York.
Maintaining these powers allows NYSARC, Inc. to enter into contracts through the Dormitory Authority. , which can help fund the construction, renovation, or improvement of facilities essential to their mission.
By deeming these contracts as “state contracts” under Article 15-A of the executive law, the bill ensures that NYSARC, Inc. and its contractors remain subject to state requirements for minority- and women-owned business participation. , promoting diversity and equal opportunity in the use of public funds.
