What's happening
This bill allows retailers to conduct wine tastings on their licensed premises and includes them in liability provisions.
Why it matters
Expands consumer access and marketing opportunities. by allowing wine retailers (not just producers/importers) to host tastings on their premises, potentially increasing customer engagement and sales.
Holds retailers to the same legal liability standards. as wineries, wholesalers, and importers during tastings, meaning retailers must manage risks associated with serving alcohol (e.g., overconsumption, underage drinking) just like other industry participants.
Levels the playing field among alcohol sellers. by giving retailers the same tasting privileges as wineries and farm wineries, which could encourage more small businesses to participate in wine promotion and offer greater product variety to consumers.
