What's happening
This bill allows late submission of school building project completion certificates to be ratified, validated, and eligible for state aid.
Why it matters
Protects school districts from losing state funding. due to missing deadlines for submitting final building project reports, potentially safeguarding local budgets and educational resources.
Prevents costly state aid clawbacks. for projects completed in previous years, ensuring that districts won’t have to repay funds already received because of administrative delays.
Sets a clear deadline (December 31, 2018) for compliance. , giving affected districts a final opportunity to submit necessary paperwork and secure funding for completed projects.
Recognizes administrative realities in school construction. , acknowledging that paperwork issues shouldn’t penalize districts, students, or taxpayers when projects were otherwise eligible for aid.
