What's happening
This bill requires gas stations advertising cash discounts to also display credit prices in equal or larger size, with penalties for violations.
Why it matters
Increases transparency for consumers. by ensuring that both cash and credit prices are clearly displayed, making it easier for customers to compare and understand actual costs at the pump without confusion or surprise charges.
Addresses potentially misleading advertising. by requiring that the often higher credit price must be shown as prominently (or more so) as the cash price, preventing gas stations from luring drivers with low cash prices only to reveal higher credit costs after customers have committed.
Establishes meaningful consequences for non-compliance. , imposing daily fines for violations, which creates a strong incentive for gas stations to follow the new display requirements and protects consumers from deceptive pricing practices.
