What's happening

This bill requires massage therapist offices to keep street-facing lobby or entrance windows unobstructed and clearly visible from outside.

Why it matters

  1. Increases transparency and monitoring. By requiring the lobby or entrance windows of massage therapist offices to remain unobstructed, the bill aims to deter illegal or inappropriate activities by making it easier for law enforcement and the public to see inside.

  2. Impacts business operations and privacy. Massage therapist offices may need to alter current window coverings or displays, potentially reducing privacy for clients and staff in the entrance areas and affecting how businesses present themselves to the street.

  3. Targets industry reputation and safety. The measure seeks to distinguish legitimate massage therapy practices from illicit operations, which can improve public trust in the profession and potentially enhance the safety of both clients and practitioners.
