What's happening

This bill adds the Bethlehem Public Library to the list of libraries eligible for state construction and financing support.

Why it matters

  1. Expands access to funding. By adding the Bethlehem Public Library to the eligible list, the bill enables this library to apply for state-backed loans and grants for construction or renovation, potentially improving its facilities for the local community.

  2. Promotes equity among libraries. The amendment addresses disparities in public library infrastructure by ensuring that Bethlehem Public Library receives the same opportunities for support as other libraries already on the list.

  3. Potential for community growth. Improved library facilities can support educational programs, technology access, and community events, meaning this change could enhance social and educational resources for Bethlehem residents.
