What's happening

This bill requires Board of Elections annual reports to include the number of voter registration forms distributed and returned by agencies, without collecting personal information.

Why it matters

  1. Improves transparency and accountability. By requiring Boards of Elections to report the number of voter registration forms distributed and returned by each agency, the public and lawmakers can better assess which agencies are actively supporting voter registration.

  2. Helps identify gaps and opportunities. The data can highlight which agencies are most or least effective in helping people register, enabling targeted improvements or increased support where needed, especially for groups underrepresented in voter rolls.

  3. Protects individual privacy. The bill specifically prohibits the collection or reporting of personally identifiable information, balancing transparency with the need to safeguard citizens' privacy.
