What's happening
This bill increases compensation for New York election workers with four or more years of service by 25 percent.
Why it matters
Raises pay specifically for experienced election workers, potentially improving retention and rewarding those with long-term commitment and expertise.
May help address staffing shortages and reduce turnover during elections by making the role more attractive for seasoned workers.
Could lead to higher quality and more efficient election operations, as experienced workers are incentivized to return and use their knowledge.
Impacts local and city budgets, as counties and New York City will need to allocate additional funds for these pay increases.
