What's happening

This bill establishes misdemeanor penalties, including fines and possible jail time, for violating certain hunting, trapping, or fishing license suspensions or revocations.

Why it matters

  1. Creates stronger deterrents. against violating hunting, trapping, or fishing license suspensions or revocations by making such violations a misdemeanor with potential jail time and higher fines, which could encourage greater compliance with wildlife laws.

  2. Targets repeat or serious offenders. who previously may have faced only minor penalties, signaling a shift toward stricter enforcement and potentially reducing illegal hunting and fishing activities.

  3. May impact access to outdoor recreation. for individuals with prior violations, as the threat of a criminal record and more severe penalties could discourage attempts to skirt license suspensions or revocations.

  4. Reflects increased prioritization of conservation and public safety. , suggesting the state is taking wildlife management and legal compliance more seriously, which could benefit ecosystem health and fair sporting practices.
