What's happening
This bill amends existing law to prohibit anyone under 12 years old from entering gun shows in New York.
Why it matters
Introduces a clear, enforceable age restriction. that would require gun show organizers to actively prevent anyone under 12 from entering, adding a new compliance responsibility and potentially changing the logistics of gun show admissions.
Could impact the cultural and educational role of gun shows. for families and youth, especially in communities where such events are seen as opportunities for early exposure to firearms safety or hunting traditions.
Reflects a broader policy trend of prioritizing youth protection. in environments where firearms are present, highlighting ongoing legislative scrutiny of underage access to gun-related settings in New York.
May influence future legislative debates. by setting a precedent for age-based restrictions at other firearm-related venues or events, potentially shaping how gun safety and youth access are handled statewide.
