What's happening
This bill allows school buses and certain paratransit vehicles transporting children or people with disabilities to travel on all parkways.
Why it matters
Improves access for children and people with disabilities. by making it easier and potentially faster for school buses and paratransit vehicles to reach educational and care facilities, as they can now use parkways that were previously off-limits.
May reduce travel times and logistical barriers. for families and service providers, especially in areas where parkways offer the most direct or least congested routes, possibly leading to fewer delays and more reliable transportation.
Reflects a shift in transportation policy. by recognizing that not all larger vehicles are "commercial" in the traditional sense, and that strict bans can unintentionally limit essential services for vulnerable populations.
Could prompt changes in parkway infrastructure or enforcement. , as authorities may need to update signage, adjust road designs, or train staff to accommodate the newly permitted vehicles safely.
