What's happening
This bill removes the minimum one-pint package size requirement for selling ice cream or frozen desserts made with wine.
Why it matters
Enables greater flexibility for producers and retailers. by allowing ice cream or frozen desserts made with wine to be sold in a wider range of package sizes, which may encourage innovation and more diverse product offerings.
Could benefit small businesses and local producers. who might want to market specialty or artisanal products in smaller quantities, making it easier to test new flavors or appeal to niche markets.
May respond to consumer demand for smaller portions. , which can appeal to individuals seeking moderation, sampling, or single-serve convenience, and may also reduce food waste.
Maintains existing safety and labeling requirements. (sealed packaging and mandated statements) to ensure consumer protection, while removing a potentially outdated restriction on minimum package size.
